North & East Texas Press Association
Scholarship Application
The North & East Texas Press Association will award two $1500 scholarships, one to a graduating high school senior and one to a currently enrolled college student*. The scholarships are payable at $750 per semester to the registrar of the college of the recipient's choice.
DEADLINE: Applications must be postmarked by March 21 to be considered. Winners will be notified by April 4. Winners will be invited to attend the NETPA convention in Ft. Worth April 14-16.
Applicants MUST be from the area served by NETPA and have a declared major in journalism/communications.
Please provide the following materials in your scholarship application submission:
1. Complete the attached application (Download it here) and include a resume that includes scholastic, athletic and community activities.
2. Provide a current official transcript certified by school or college registrar.
3. High school applicants should submit three letters of recommendation from:
a) senior, junior or dual credit college English instructor
b) publication adviser
c) from a person of the applicant's choice
College applicants should submit only (b) and (c).
4. Applicants should submit clips of published work. Include publication dates. May send photocopies of work as published in yearbook or magazine. Please mount all photocopies and newspaper clippings on paper and place in folder or binder.

NETPA
announces 2007 scholarship recipients

SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS - Meghan Clark, valedictorian of the Olney High School Class of 2007, was introduced by NETPA Scholarship Chairman Randy Keck at the 2007 NETPA Convention as one of two 2007 scholarship winners. Accompanying Meghan to the NETPA convention awards brunch were her sister, Autumn, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Scotte Clark.
The North and East Texas Press Association has announced
that Tiffany Henry of White Oak and Meghan M. Clark
of Olney are the recipients of two $1,500 college scholarships
for the 2007-08 school year.
Clark won first place in district in UIL editorial
writing in 2005. At Olney High School, she was the freshman
class secretary, Spanish club historian, treasurer and
president, band chaplain, and band section leader. She
was a National Merit Scholarship finalist and is a member
of the National Honor Society.
Henry has been a staff writer and photographer her
junior and senior years at White Oak High School and
was editor of the yearbook in 2007. She has received
the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen
Award, Elk’s Lodge Student of the Month, and was
on the 2005 and 2006 National Scholastic Press Association
Honor Roll of Student Journalists.
The scholarships for Clark and Henry are funded by
the NETPA and the Texas Press Association.

in Texas that works to promote and strengthen community
